Who We Are
Tate Solar is part of the Tate Family of Companies based in Otley, West Yorkshire.
George Tate founded Tate Oil in 1972 as an extension to his family engineering business. With an existing network of loyal agricultural customers, it became one of the first family-run fuel suppliers in the area – and more than 50 years later, Tate Oil remains the same independent, family-run business today.
Tate Solar was launched to help Tate Oil customers navigate the next steps on their renewable energy journey, bringing the same level of personal service, expertise and quality to Solar PV systems as we do to fuel supply.
Unlike other solar panel installers, we have the geographical and structural knowledge required to bring the latest and most future-proof solar technology to agricultural and rural properties.

We are passionate about not letting rural and agricultural properties get left behind in the transition to a Net Zero green economy and we believe that solar energy is the best way to retrofit and future-proof these properties with minimum impact on their character or the landscape around them. We have got access to Government funding and all the necessary accreditations to ensure that our customers can trust us to do a top quality job with minimal to no disruption and, in many cases, no upfront costs.
